Goals

Create characters and connect character backstories. At least one character should have a personal relationship with the Healer, enough that the Healer would trust them with a closely guarded secret. The PC could be a relative, apprentice, friend, or perhaps they saved the Healer's life at some point.
Describe the Healer: have the players determine who the Healer is. Their name, ancestry, gender, and description should all be decided by the players. One thing to include is the Healer hasn't appeared to age in decades.

World & Magic

Magic in this part of the world is relatively rare, such that people would travel great lengths to be healed by Sanara's Healer. The one-shot takes place primarily in Sanara and the Stygian forest but feel free to build out farther if need be.

GM-Only Secrets

The Healer will confess to the PCs, or at least to the PC that they know, that they do not have any healing powers. Years ago, they stole a sacred chalice from deep in the Stygian woods that contained an endless supply of healing water. The Healer has used this to heal all the travellers that have come to them (for a price) as well as extend their own youth. However, they are convinced that the forest has become angry about this theft and wishes to return the chalice.
What the Healer doesn't know is this chalice was used in a ritualistic binding of a being of pure corruption. Without the chalice, the forest denizens were unable to renew the binding and the being has escaped, causing the overgrowth and corruption of all the creatures within the forest.

The final battle will be with Fal Thaysis, the Corruptor. If you want to create more in depth lore around this creature or tie the Healer or one of the PCs more closely to it, please do that.
The adversary itself is very powerful, particularly in its 2nd and 3rd phase where its standard attack hits all PCs in Close range. Be careful using this adversary. Swap between its different actions instead of just making standard attacks or you will end up killing your PCs. Don't forget to use the Environment actions as well, though refrain from summoning too many Corruption Spawn Swarms or you will draw out the battle.

Notes

This is designed to be an introductory one-shot. It is heavily inspired by the Quickstart Adventure and Witherwild campaign frame, as well as Fern Gully and Annihilation.
This adventure is very bare-bones, by design. Feel free to flesh out as much or as little as suits your group.
The encounters are designed for a party of 3 or 4 players. Adjust the amount of adversaries to suit your group.

Overview

The Stygian forest has grown wild, and the creatures within corrupted and violent. The rapid growth has cut the outpost town of Sanara off from the world. The famed Healer of Sanara calls the PCs for a final confession...
