World & Magic
Local worship of small deities and spirits used to be prevalent throughout the world. Some places still honor the "old ways", but small traditions are fading against the large organized religions taking root in the cities.
Hermit Marl of Howd used to keep the old ways and ancient agreements alive for the mountain towns, but has since passed away. His assistant has vacated the post with no one taking up the mantle. The townsfolk now look to the new Temple of the Sun for spiritual guidance.
GM-Only Secrets
-Characters who rely heavily on flying (fairies, winged sentinel seraphs, etc) may face additional difficulties using their flight ability due to environmental conditions.
-The encounter was designed for a roleplay-focused party. You may want to increase enemy stats for a more combat-enthusiastic group.
Notes
A session 0 for this one-shot is optional. Feel free to use the one-shot as a filler into a current campaign or run it for the table as a standalone. If creating new characters for this one-shot, make sure the players are aware that their characters are a pre-established party who know one another and have likely been on previous missions together.
