Sphinx of the Undura
Motive:
This towering creature guards the entrance to the Undura court. In order to pass by it — in or out — you must answer its riddle. Sphinxes will let you do whatever you want if you answer their riddles.
Sphinxes are technically demons — created by the infernal lion-god Jadeph.
As far as demons go, sphinxes are incredibly intelligent and incredibly powerful — on par with celestial angels. But they have a glaring weakness. If you defeat the sphinx’s riddle, it will consider you a superior opponent, and will let you do whatever you want to it.
Riddles in the Dark
Choice: The sphinx asks a riddle of a PC.
Trigger: The PC either fails or succeeds a Knowledge reaction roll.
Effect: On a failure, the player marks 2 Stress.
On a success (15), the player receives a hint from the GM. On a success (20), the player receives two hints. On a success (25), the player receives the answer to the riddle.
