About this class

Imbued with death and cold, Death Knights are fallen warriors, raised as mindless servants of the gods. Tasked to reap and slay where they go, no control over their own actions. After a time, though, this control wanes. Maybe the god has lost interest. Maybe the soul within has regained enough strength to throw off its shackles. Either way, some Death Knights do regain their independence. Not their memory. Not their previous life, which may be decades in the past. Newly freed Death Knights roam the world, seeking for a place to belong, for a chance to matter again.
But the world is not kind to undead killing machines, how well behaved they may appear.

Class features

  • Death grip

    Mark a Stress to move a target of approximately your size or smaller within Far Range into Melee Range.

  • Runescribing

    At the beginning of the session and after a Long Rest, place a number of Rune Tokens equal to your Spellcast Trait on your character sheet. Spend a Rune Token:
    • When you hit with a Melee attack to add your Strength in magical damage;
    • To clear 1 hp on a succesful melee attack;
    • When attacked to gain 1D4 evasion against that attack.
    When you end a Long Rest, remove all Rune Tokens."

  • Undead

    You need only half the food or drink a living being needs.
    You do not need to breathe, but you cannot speak while not breathing. You are cold to the touch and look rather pale, for someone of your kind.

Class items

  • A faded letter from a long dead relative or a skull fragment
