About these subclasses

The Painter Brawler allows you to switch your style up, and give your enemies different detrimental effects based on the trait of your I Am The Weapon feature. I will admit, I’m a little confused on the wording in the official ability. It says “it uses a Trait of your choice”, but it doesn’t say that the Trait of your choice is set in stone It’s usually more beneficial, but this subclass allows you to play with that idea, and utilize different traits. If it doesn’t work like that, I might change it to it being a choice, but I’ve got to be honest, I like this design space better. It works with the flavoring.
EDIT: After some discussions with Klebbo, I’ve decided to make an updated version of the Painter Brawler that’s a little more rounded. I’ve made some changes, and moved some things around, and added things, and got rid of things to help clear things up. I don’t know if it’s simpler, per say, but maybe a little easier to understand. I may not have followed through on every bit of advice Klebbo gave, but I think this new version comes together well enough. I am keeping the old version up for posterity, and I think it’s still usable.
Anyway, here’s the sheet for the new version of Full-Palette Fighting: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xjxQx2DpzF16pZHAmiYlOLqDFMj0tjfTYuvxZe-ozRc/edit?tab=t.0

Switch up your style to paint your enemies in an array of colors, and give your team an edge in battle.

Foundation

Full-Palette Fighting: Whenever you use your I Am The Weapon feature, you may Spend a Hope to force the target to make a reaction roll (13). On a failure, the target gains a condition depending on the Trait used. The GM may clear the condition by spending a Fear. The target may only have a number of conditions equal to your Proficiency, and the conditions may not stack. The conditions are listed below:

  • Agility-The target is coated in red paint that slows them down, giving them disadvantage on reaction rolls.

  • Strength-The target is coated in orange paint that makes them more susceptible to damage. Whenever the target takes damage, you may add a roll of your Combo die to the damage roll.

  • Finesse-The target is coated in yellow paint that is bright, subtracting your tier from their Difficulty.

  • Instinct-The target is coated in green paint that inspires Hope. When a creature successfully attacks the target, they gain an extra Hope.

  • Presence-The target is coated in blue paint that induces panic. Whenever the target fails a roll, they Mark a Stress.

  • Knowledge-The target is coated in purple paint that distracts them. The target has disadvantage on all attacks against anyone but you.

Specialization

Flourishing Combo: Whenever your Combo Strike ends, you may Spend a Hope to add an additional roll of your Combo Die to the damage roll.

Paintball: Spend a Hope to make an attack roll against a target within Far range using any Trait. On a success, you deal d8 + your tier Magic Damage. You may Spend an additional Hope to activate your Full-Palette Fighting feature as well.
