About this transformation

Dullahans are a type of undead humanoid who died by getting their head chopped off. Through some act of mysticism, or because they chose to, they've been granted a second life as a Dullahan. As a Dullahan, they carry their heads with them as a symbol of how they died, and how death comes for us all. A black smoke emits from their neck; a symbol of the magic that made them alive once more. While they have been granted this new life, they have to be careful. If their head, and body, are separated from each other, the head becomes inactive, and the body becomes weaker.

Features

Cephalophore

Your head is no longer attached to your body, but you are connected to it through mystical means. You may carry your head without burden. Additionally, you, and your head, may be separated. While separated, you share all features, and you may cast spells, and make attacks through either your head, or your body. However, while separated, your head may only wield one-handed weapons, and may only move into Very Close range without the need to make an Agility roll. Your body can still see, or at least perceive, the world without your head, and you may speak through either your head, or your body.

Headless

If your head is ever more than Very Far from your body, your head shuts down. Permanently mark one Hit Point, and one Stress until you Reunite with your head. To Reunite with your head, you head, and your body, must be within Melee range of each other.

Transformation questions

  1. Were you purposefully beheaded, or would you have gotten killed regardless?
  2. Why did you return in this form?
  3. You have a connection to death. Whose death did you have a premonition of when you first began exploring the world as a Dullahan?
  4. Your head and body have been separated for a while now. Do you feel like the same person collectively, or are your head, and body, growing different personalities?
  5. Your death was well-known. Do you choose to visit those you knew in life, or do you think they'll be afraid of you?
  6. The person who killed you is still out there. Do you desire revenge against them, or leave things as they are?
