Features

Passives

passive
  • A Moment's Reprieve

While taking some time to relax at the Hot Springs, the party can tend to their needs. Each PC can describe what they are doing and gain the benefits of one downtime move without it counting as a Rest.

What pleasant memory does the natural aroma of the hot springs bring forth? What song does the running water remind you of?

  • Onsen Tamago

The party can attempt to use the natural heat of the spring to prepare some food. A PC can spend 1 Handful of Gold and make an Instinct or Knowledge Action Roll. On a success, they produce 'Travel Snacks' equal to the number of PCs present. By taking a few minutes to eat this snack, a PC can heal 1D4 Hit Points. The Travel Snack will stay edible till they next take a Long Rest.

Who taught the PC how to cook this way? What unique flavour does the hot spring water add to the food?

Actions

action
  • Apex Predators Need a Break Too
    Fear 1

Spend a Fear to summon a Brown Bear, which strolls into the Hot Springs, eyes the party wearily, then slumps down into a nearby pool, letting out a deep, contented sigh.

How does the Party react when the Brown Bear first appears? How could they attempt to communicate with the wise old soul?

Reactions

  • Wash Before You Bathe!

Proper custom dictates that one cleanses their body before entering the hot spring. If a PC does not do this, have them make a Presence Reaction Roll. On a failure, a spirit of the Hot Springs Judges them for their social faux pas. The next time the Judged PC rolls a Critical Success, it is treated as a Success w/ Fear instead. The condition then ends. The PC can end this condition immediately by leaving a proper offering of apology to the spirits of the Hot Springs.

How does it feel to be judged by this unknowable spirit? What can be done to placate them?
