Effect

A PC investigating the hand can make a Knowledge or Spellcast Roll (16) to reveal its nature, history or innate magic. On a success, PC’s may learn the following truths, depending on the type of action roll they used: - Two centuries ago, there was a powerful Lich called Malenthia whose defeated body was spread throughout the lands - and this hand is one part of it. - A torn piece of an eyeball can be found under a nail (Malenthia was a collector of eyes and tormented their blinded victims with unnatural visions). - The hand emits a weak necrotic aura that hints towards dormant magic. - An old ritual to evoke dormant magical abilities may be used to bring forth the hand's magic - if the right ingredients can be gathered. A failed roll to investigate the hand will reveal one of the following wrong rumors: - The hand is the long lost relic of a god - brimming with divine magic. Several religious orders would pay handsomely for it. - Hidden inside the stitched fingers are gemstones waiting to be extracted - The hand is waiting to be awoken and only prolonged close contact to a living being will accomplish the nigh impossible
