About these subclasses

A silly witch subclass that falls under the category of “whimsical” for the less serious players. Not balanced but hopefully fun! Letting randomness decide what chaotic magic emerges.

Made as part of the Weekly Homebrew Daggerheart Challenge 10/26/26.

Spellcast Trait: Presence

Embrace randomness and your whimsical nature

Foundation

Familiarity: When you roll a failure with Fear, roll 1d4 to determine the chaotic energy that emerges.

  1. You transform into a chicken until you make a Spellcast Roll (10) to transform back. You become Vulnerable and only have access to your spells.

  2. A black cat walks across the battlefield, forcing all creatures to succeed on an Instinct Reaction Roll (12) or gain disadvantage on their next action roll.

  3. A target of your choice within Close range must succeed on a Reaction Roll (10+tier) or transform into a mouse temporarily.

  4. You summon a small frog that you or an ally can poke to gain a Hope and then it disappears.

Specialization

Controlled Chaos: Once per rest, you can mark a Stress to trigger “Familiarity” after any action roll.

More Mayhem: Your “Familiarity” die is now 1d6.

  • On a 5, a dog runs through the scene, passing by all creatures. You or an ally can clear a Stress and a target of your choice must mark a Stress.

  • On a 6, an owl flies down from above and starts pecking at a target of your choice within Far range, making them temporarily Vulnerable.

Mastery

Bard & Raven: After you make an action roll, if your "Familiarity" die matches either of your Duality Dice, a song emerges to summon a raven. The raven provides one of the following features of your choice until the feature is used or until you summon another raven:

  • When you gain a Hope, choose an additional ally within Close range to also gain a Hope.

  • When the GM would gain a Fear, prevent them from gaining it.

The raven flies off after a feature is used as a new song signals their departure.
