Heavy Vegetation - Passive
Passing through the jungle uses a Progress Countdown (10). It ticks down when the PCs make an action roll to safely move through the overgrown plantlife. When the countdown triggers, the party has emerged from the jungle.
Questions- What rare flora sprouts from the ground?
- What sounds reverberate throughout the thicket?
-
Hotbed For Diseases - Passive
A PC that marks HP while passing through the jungle must make a Knowledge Reaction Roll at their next rest to properly treat their wounds and avoid catching an illness. On a failure, the PC must mark 1 Stress and can only use 1 downtime move this rest.
Questions- What symptoms does the afflicted PC develop?
- What scenes play out in their delirious mind?
Actions
action-
Suspicious Screams - Action
A vaguely humanoid sounding scream resounds from nearby.
Questions- Is the sound made by a person in danger, a wild bird, or a cunning predator mimicking its prey?
- Who or what else is drawn in by the noise?
-
Monkey Business - Action
A troop of mischievous apes attempts to steal something from a PC. The PC must succeed on an Instinct Roll to notice the hairy thieves or lose an item of the GM's choice as the monkeys begin climbing up the trees to a Close distance. The PCs must complete a Progress Countdown (4) to catch the thief or convince it to return the stolen property.
Questions- What does one of the monkeys do with the stolen item?
- Are they willing to trade for returning the item?
Reactions
reaction-
Aim For Those Bushes - Reaction
When a PC fails an action while at a large height, such as when climbing a tree, you can spend a Fear to summon a Tangle Bramble Swarm on the ground below them and have them fall in Melee range of it. They don't take any damage from the fall, but the Swarm immediately takes the spotlight.
Questions- How does the PC feel in the moments between an assumed safe landing and the realization?
- What other prey has previously fallen victim to the ravenous swarm?
