Chardalyn Dragon (RTFM)

Adversaries Designed by Wine Player • Art by from Rime of the Frostmaiden

Adversary overview

A draconic construct made of cursed metal created to destroy Ten-Towns.

(The HP is chosen with the knowledge in mind that the dragon will take at least 5 damage during its flight path to Bryn Shander from each town fighting back. If you want to use it without the Ten-Towns, reduce its total HP to 10.)

Features

Passives

  • Relentless (2)

This adversary can be spotlighted up to 2 times per GM turn. Spend Fear as usual to spotlight them.

  • Flight

While flying, the Dragon gains a +3 to its difficulty.

  • No Hope

When a PC rolls with Fear while within Far range of the Dragon, they lose a Hope.

  • Rend and Crush

If a target damaged by the Chardalyn Dragon doesn’t mark an Armor Slot to reduce the damage, they must mark a Stress.

  • Chardalyn Scales

The Chardalyn Dragon is resistant to physical damage.

  • Malevolent Presence

Any creature within Close range of the dragon must make an Instinct reaction roll. On a failure, the creature becomes "corrupted" by the Dragon and the reaction roll can be repeated at the end of its Spotlight. A creature becomes immune to this feature for 24 hours once it succeeds the reaction roll. A "corrupted" creature fixates on a creature or object the dragon chooses and must move as close as possible to it and make an attack against it.

Actions

  • Fire Breath
    fear 2

Spend 2 Fear to release a fiery whirlwind in an area within Close range. All targets in this area must make an Agility Reaction Roll. Targets who fail take 4d6+5 magic damage and on a success targets must mark 2 Stress or take half damage.

Reactions

  • Momentum

When this adversary makes a successful attack against a PC, you gain a Fear.
