Lost Clockwork Dragon
Adversary overview
A time-lost construct made of whirring gears, primitive science, scale, and flesh.
This creature is a dragon that has been tampered with by a mad scientist mage responsible for half-flesh half-machine constructs in a high fantasy world. Without its master to issue its commands, over time the monster has grown completely wild, haywire, and aggressively attacks anything it sees. It is indiscriminate in its assaults, and is not intelligent. It does not know fear or have a fight or flight impulse, only fight. It will never flee a fight, and will only stop its pursuit if distracted by a new target, evaded by an elusive quarry, or its prey is dead or destroyed.
When using the Clockwork Dragon, consider how it came to be in your setting, who its original master was, why has it become lost. The HP and thresholds are tuned for a long solo-monster conflict, but feel free to lower its thresholds, difficulty, or HP if you are adding more complex things to the battle, terrain, or other adversaries.
When describing the Clockwork Dragon, lean on high fantasy tropes and light body horror, describing how the metal and the sinew have melded together to create and unsettling and unnatural monster.

A Trial of Cold Steel
When spotlighting the Clockwork Dragon, you may put a counter on this ability and end the spotlight, describing that the Clockwork Dragon is whirring to life, or lighting up underneath its metal with magma. If the Dragon has a counter on A Trial of Cold Steel when it is spotlighted, it immediately uses Oil and Fire Breath without paying the normal Fear cost.
-
Oil and Fire Breathfear 2
Spend 2 Fear to release an oil slick, followed by a torrent of magma and fire in front of the Dragon within Close range. All targets in this area must make an Agility Reaction Roll. Targets who fail take 3d6+5 magic damage and are Temporarily on fire until they spend a hope or another player puts them out with an action roll. A target that is on fire at the end of its spotlight takes 1 HP direct damage. Targets who succeed the Agility Reaction Roll must either mark 2 Stress or take half damage, without the burning effect.
