Mama Mulusepa was once a powerful Faint Divinity in the Fanewick region of the Witherwild campaign frame. She had many other names, the most common being “She Who Fulfills Guilty Pleasures and Abhorrent Desires.” Since the invasion of Haven she has reawakened and sightings have become increasingly common.
She has three forms, or “personas”: Day, Night and Hunger. During the week-long daytime, she appears as a docile old human grandmother who is eager to indulge your desires of food, drink, laziness and possessions. At night, she appears as a seductive forest dryad who aggressively insists on satiating inebriation, lust and sadism. The hunger persona appears as a giant slug, snail or salamander, sometimes with the head of an old woman, and it merely wishes to consume. It typically appeared at dusk, though it was known to appear at any time of day on rare occasions.
Mama Mulusepa’s Hunger Persona is considered the most mindless and destructive, and as such should be avoided at all costs. Those who enter into a pact with Mama Mulusepa invariably find themselves forced to feed her Hunger Persona in repayment, which is a daunting task. During combat, the Hunger Persona will lash out at and consume any adversary nearby, perhaps after softening them up with acid spittle.
{Mama Mulusepa in all of her forms will appear in “The Crypt of Contempt,” my upcoming adventure for the Witherwild campaign frame.}
You must spend a Fear to spotlight Mama Mulusepa. While spotlighted, she can make her standard attack against all targets within range.
Whenever Mama Mulusepa makes a successful attack, eats a corpse, or engulfs a target, all PCs that can see her lose a Hope and you gain a Fear.
A Faint Divinity can be defeated, but not truly destroyed. When Mama Mulusepa in this form marks her last Hit Point, she explodes into thousands of 4-inch long, hungry, acidic banana slugs. If even one survives, she will rise again after the next dawn.
If Mama Mulusepa has a marked HP, and if there is a corpse within Close range, spend a Fear to have Mama Mulusepa lash out with an enormous tongue and eat the corpse and clear 1d4 HP.
Mark a Stress to make an attack roll and spit acid at a target. On a hit, the target and anyone else within Very Close range of the target takes 2d8 physical damage and must mark an armor slot. (They can still use armor to reduce the damage).
Mark a Stress to make a melee attack against a target within Very Close range. On a success, the target is engulfed, taking a combined 4d6 points of bludgeoning and acid damage. The target is now Restrained and suffocating. The target or another PC must make a successful Strength Roll (15) to get out. If this fails, they take 2d6 points of acid damage and must mark 1 Stress.
