Plasma Hungerer
Burning plasma sparks that are attracted by magic use
Motives & Tactics: ambush, drain power
Burning plasma sparks that are attracted by magic use
As a general use, this adversary can be summoned by spending Fear in an environment where chaotic magic is present (e.g. Failed Experiment, Elementals). Consider summoning [#PCs -1] Plasma Hungerers per spent Fear in Close Range, and immediately spotlighting all of them. Use Extract Sustenance only after they have marked HP.
Encounters with the Plasma Hungerers are fights of attrition. This adversary is meant to be used almost as an inconvenience, drawing resources from the party before a bigger fight.
Extract Sustenance makes this a harder encounter than it might seem. If you focus one PC, the direct damage will take a toll. If the encounter starts to drag or is harder for the party than anticipated, the Hungerers could be attracted by a nearby magical source (or be consumed by a powerful magical rip), and disappear.
When the Horde has marked half or more of their Hit Points, their standard attack deals 1d4+1 magical damage instead.
Mark a Stress to make an attack against a target within Very Close range. On a success, deal direct damage (standard) and clear 1 Hit Point.
