About this ancestry
Dhampir are humanoids who possess sunken eyes, sharp teeth and nails and batlike features. Though these batlike features vary per dhampir, some would be nearly indistinguishable from a pale elf at first glance, others would be closer to batfolk than human. They're the desendants of one who, while still living, managed to sire an offspring with a cursed individual, usually a vampire. This has lead to them having a great affiliation with the dark, where the subtle glow in their eyes allows them to somewhat see within dim light and ears that utilise echo location when in pitch darkness. Their skin tones are usually monochromatic, varying between a pale white, dull grey or even a pitch black, highlighted by thick black veins. On average a dhampir will range between 5 feet to 7 feet tall and are able to live for around 180 years.
Each is able to tap in to the lifeforce of others when wounded or weakened, consuming it to invigorate themselves. Though the effectiveness of this is limited to the life force leaving the victim, with the greater wound reaping greater results. How this life force is cosumed varies between dhampir, some will simply drink their blood whilst others can siphon it through the fear in their victims eyes or consuming the sound of their victims screams. It also varies how the dhampir will feel about this act, some see it as an exhilirating event whilst others view it with shame. This can become a matter of culture to dhampir groups.
