About this ancestry
These ghostly gourds have risen from their patches to haunt the living for a spookily good time. It's said they came to life after warding enough spirits, and their faces are carved to keep said spirits in check. While there is scholarly conjecture, the connection to actual carved gourds and turnips being used as a ward for a particular spirit named Stingy Jack seems to have at least affected this belief, and many Gourdians find peace in being night watchers and graveyard shifters.
What's funny is it's said you can decapitate one and they'll keep moving, likely out of the animus fueling their vines.

Dancing gourds brought to life by magic.
Of the Vine: When you are prone or otherwise motionless, you can appear as a simple carved jack o lantern or scarecrow.
Spirit Ward: You're naturally repellent against spirits. Creatures that can be considered undead, apparitions, or spirits have disadvantage to target you.
