About this ancestry
Mutants are incredibly diverse beings with no one seeming exactly as the other. The process of evolution or deliberate genetic manipulation are not the only reasons mutants may arise, mutants can come to be in as many ways as there are types of mutants. These differences make them a potentially oppositional force to others, but they strive to live in peace and harmony just as any other person. As there is not one kind of mutant, there are thousands of different reasons as to why someone does or doesn't embrace their mutant identity.

When thinking about applying your Diverse Genealogy to situations, think about how you want your mutant character to express their mutation. Do they normally have the Telepathy ability and use it guilefully, or are they much more brutish and limited to their physical prowess? It's important to use these abilities in good faith with your mutant characters 'standard abilities'. But! This is not a hard and fast rule, like many of mutants in the world of the X-Men, perhaps your mutant character develops secondary mutations that stretch beyond their normal abilities. Or more likely, your mutant character is a jack of all trades, able to use each ability freely because of their innate talents. Don't be afraid to be limited by the mutation you choose; besides, it's not likely that every mutant has every power... right?
