When you take damage from an adversary within Melee range, you can spend 2 Hope to initiate a clash with the adversary.

Both creatures then make reaction rolls, using each others’ roll as their difficulty. If both creatures roll the same result, they roll again until someone fails. On a failure, the target creature takes the initial damage and marks an additional Hit Point for each reaction roll made past the first.

You can do this once against each adversary per scene. Afterwards, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
