Countdown (6) - The first time the PCs encounter difficulty or a challenge on their voyage, activate the countdown. Any time the PCs succeed on a challenge not related to an adversary, decrease the count by one. Any time a PC begins to drown, increase the countdown by one. The countdown cannot hit zero while a PC is drowning. When the countdown hits zero, the PCs successfully arrive at their destination.
Questions- How is the weather? How are the waves? How does this impact their vessel?

Navigational Stars or Landmarks
Whether it is constellations, the direction of the sun, or notable landmarks around them, PCs that are used to voyages can try to navigate the safety of their journey in an active way. A PC who succeeds on a Knowledge Roll can recall navigational information about the region they remember, and guide the vessel or crew. They get advantage on all future challenges not related to adversaries in this environment.
Questions- Where is the north star? What are the local features on the shores?
-
Drowning
When a PC is knocked off of their vessel, they must make an Agility Reaction Roll. When they fail, they temporarily gain the Drowning condition. A drowning PC remains drowning until another PC spends their turn making an action roll to help them. When a PC begins to drown, they must mark a stress and while a PC is drowning, the players cannot finish the Safe Harbor countdown. A failure to save a drowning PC results in the drowning PC and the rescuer to both mark a stress.
Questions- What other issues arise for drowning PCs? Do they lose equipment? Can they recover it later? How do Adversaries react to a drowning PC?

Countdown (Loop 4) - Whenever the PCs make an action roll, decrease the countdown by 1. When the countdown hits zero, describe a threat to their ship. A giant tidal wave, the tentacle of a sea monster, an asteroid swarm. Ask the PCs to describe how they avoid this challenge and have them roll a trait appropriate reaction roll. On a failure, they mark a Stress or begin to Drown.
