Environment overview

An adversary has entered a busy street, rampaging through the civilians.

Potential adversaries

Features

Passives

passive
  • Rampaging Monster

As the event begins, introduce a single difficult adversary or a group of adversaries to the scene. These adversaries immediatly start cleaving through the panicked crowd, dealing as much damage to the civilians as possible (narratively). You gain 2 Fear and the spotlight immediately shifts to one of the adversaries.

    Questions
    • Who are they and why are they doing this?
  • Panicked Crowd

The street was buzzing with people before the adversary showed up. Now, everyone is trying to escape, making movement beyond Very Close range very difficult. If a PC tries to move faster through the crowd, they must succeed on an Agility Roll.
On a failure, they take 1d4+2 physical damage as the fleeing crowd catches them off-guard, pulling them underneath them and trampeling them. The PC is Vulnerable until they get up from the ground during their next action.

Activate a Progress Countdown (8) which ticks down after every adversary or PC action, regardless of outcome. Once completed, all civilians have fled the scene.

Actions

action
  • Butchery

The adversary attacks a group of civilians, slaughtering them all in cold blood. All PCs within Far range must lose a Hope and you gain a Fear.

  • Slippery Stones

Spend a Fear to force a PC to make an Agility Reaction Roll. On a failure, they take 1d6+1 physical damage as they slip on the blood drenched stones and fall to the ground, becoming Vulnerable until they get up from the ground during their next action. On a success, they must mark a Stress instead.

Reactions

reaction
  • Help us!

Spend a Fear to have the crowd gather around one of the PCs after the adversary has made an attack against the civilians, Restraining them and force them to mark a stress. The PC can free them with a successful Strength or Agility Roll to maneuver through or push away the panicked masses or on a successful Presence Roll by convincing them of an action.

On a successful Presence Roll, the Panicked Crowd Progress Cooldown ticks down by 2 instead of 1.
