Melusine, the Fading
Ally

Melusine, the Fading

Difficulty: 15 | HP: - | Stress: 7
Motive: Break their curse and reclaim their memories.

This NPC works best if they are a childhood friend of one of the PCs. Melusine’s curse will cause them to gradually lose themself, as their body becomes more vaporous and their mind fades. Speaking to Melusine and helping them relive their memories helps to stave off the curse’s effects. The GM and players can decide how to break the curse.

Vaporousss Form
Choice: Melusine can become vaporous at will.
Trigger: When an attack succeeds against Melusine or when the PCs ask them to investigate an area they cannot reach.
Effect: Melusine marks a Stress and fades to vapor, allowing them to negate the effects of an attack or slip into any area that is not airtight.
Hypnotizing Eyesss
Choice: The PCs have chosen to travel with Melusine to help them regain their memories and lift their curse.
Trigger: Start a countdown loop (3) that ticks down each time the PCs roll with Fear. When it triggers, Melusine can either offer an encouraging word to an ally or lower an adversary's defenses with their hypnotic stare.
Effect: An ally within Close range gains advantage on their next action roll or an adversary in Close range becomes temporarily Vulnerable.
Fading Curssse
Choice: Melusine is cursed and each time they become vaporous, they lose more of their body and memories.
Trigger: When Melusine marks all their Stress.
Effect: Melusine becomes pure mist and blows away in the wind. The PCs can potentially find them later on and return them to a solid form by helping them remember a memory.
Remember Thisss?
Choice: The PCs try to help Melusine remember their past.
Trigger: A PC spends a downtime move to speak with Melusine and recall times they spent together or memories Melusine has shared with them.
Effect: Melusine clears 1d4 Stress.
