Chaos Magic
Spellcast Trait: InstinctChaotic Surge: Whenever you roll a critical success on a spellcasting roll, or by spending a Hope, add an additional effect randomly by rolling a d6, consulting the following list:
- The affected target or area explodes, dealing d12 magic damage using your proficiency to everyone in Close range who fails an Agility Reaction Roll (14).
- Allies within Close Range of the target or area affected by the spell clear 1 hp.
- All creatures affected by the spell are temporarily Restrained or Vulnerable (Your choice).
- You blink out of sync. You vanish and reappear somewhere (GM’s choice) within Very Far range.
- All terrain within Close range of the target requires an Agility Roll (14) to move within or out of. This lasts until the next adversary has been spotlighted.
- You clear up to two marked stress on yourself.
Controlled Chaos: Whenever you roll on the Chaotic Surge table, you can spend 2 Hope to roll another d6, choosing which die you use when deciding the effect.
Additionally, if the Chaotic Surge was caused by a Critical Success, you get some control over the surge. Pick one of the options:
- You can decide who is unaffected by the surge.
- You can decide where you end up when blinking out.
- You can decide to cause the surge to affect everything within Far range instead of Close range.
Chaotic Overload: Spend 2 hope to roll twice on the Chaotic Surge table (rerolling duplicates), applying both results on the same casting. Use this only when the Chaos Surge is caused by a critical success.
