X-Men: Cyclops

About these subclasses

Cyclops’ are stalwart and often stoic individuals, they are naturally protective leaders. Tactically minded and driven to perform, they make every effort to consider the wellbeing of those around them. This is not to say they are all pure and gentle hearted; threats against their tribe or family and especially vulnerable people can trigger intense emotional responses. With red hued optic blasts and creative thinking, they are able to wield devastating power against their enemies.

My goal with this subclass was to transpose cyclops into the world of Daggerheart. Obviously this is all subject to change, as fun as it is to try and make X-Men into mechanically cohesive subclasses, they will never hit every benchmark. Still fun to try though. Let me know what you think, I appreciate any and all feedback.

X-Men: Cyclops

Play a Cyclops if you want to wield powerful optic energy and battle with a tactical mind.

Foundation

Optic Energy: You gain a pool of Optic Energy and start with an amount equal to your Strength trait. You can mark a Stress to spend Optic Energy to use one of the following effects they would be applicable:

  • Make an attack roll using Strength with Far range that deals d10+d4 magic damage on hit using your Proficiency.

  • Reduce any instance of fall damage by 1d20+5.

  • Use your optic blast to leap up to Far range to jump across gaps and bypass tall barriers.

You regain your Optic Energy when you finish a rest.

Specialization

Tacticians Focus: You can spend 2 Hope to give a boon to your allies. When your allies next roll with Fear, they can turn it into a roll with Hope.

Perfect Vision: When you make an attack against a target within Far range, you can mark a Stress to do so with advantage and if you hit, deal an additional 1d10 magic damage.

Mastery

Leader's Constitution: When you would mark only 1 Stress, you can spend an Optic Energy, when you do, don't mark it.

Protective Blitz: If a ranged attack roll would succeed against an ally within Far range, you can mark 2 Stress and nullify that attack with an optic blast.
