Faithful Acolyte

Subclasses Designed by Mal S

About these subclasses

Mainly inspired by the DnD Paladin’s Aura features. It distinguishes itself from the Divine Wielder (which is mainly focused on damage and a little bit of healing) and the Winged Sentinel (which is focused on flight and a little bit of damage) by being the subclass that is the ultimate Hope farm and more built around support than damage, making it like a DnD cleric due to its focus in that role, but with an emphasis on generating Hope for themself and others (Very) close to them rather than healing. Unsure as to whether this may be better as a class instead of a subclass (maybe with the Splendor/Grace domains?), but wanted to try it as a subclass of Seraph first.
Optimism’s wording was kept deliberately vague on the class feature because of the potential for multiclassing.

Faithful Acolyte

Faithful Acolyte

Spell trait: Presence

Play the Faithful Acolyte if you want to inspire others with your unwavering hope.

Foundation
Tier 1

Aura of Faith: Spend 2 Hope to surround yourself in a gleaming aura, then place a d4 on this card with the 1 value facing up. While the Aura of Faith Die is active, when you or an ally within Very Close range rolls with Fear, it becomes a roll with Hope instead. Afterward, increase the Aura of Faith Die’s value by one. When the die’s value exceeds its maximum value or the scene ends, this aura drops and you must mark a Stress.

Holding on to Hope: When you spend any amount of Hope, roll a d6. On a result of 6, immediately regain one of the Hope you spent.

Specialization
Tier 2

Optimism: You only need to spend 2 Hope to activate your class's Hope Feature instead of 3.

Potent Aura: Your Aura of Faith Die increases to a d6.

Mastery
Tier 3

Pinnacle of Faith: Once per session, you can spend 6 Hope instead of 2 to activate your “Aura of Faith” feature. If you do, you gain the following additional benefits while that feature is active:

  • Roll a d20 as your Hope Die for all of your action rolls and reaction rolls.
  • Adversaries within Very Close range must spend an additional Fear to activate a Fear Feature.
  • Touch an ally for them to gain a Hope. Then the spotlight shifts to them.
