Chaos magic
Channel uncontrollable surges of magic into your attacks
Hopeful surge: When you role a failure with hope, a spark of primordial chaos destabilizes the area around you.
Roll a d4 Wild Surge Table immediately to trigger an unpredictable magical effect:
1 - Arcane Repulsion: All adversaries within melee range take 1d4 physical damage from a sudden shock-wave.
2 - Wild Step: You immediately teleport to an open space within Close range.
3 - Prismatic Barrier: Glowing, erratic light envelops you. You and an ally within close range gain a +1 to Evasion until your next surge.
4 - Arcane Distraction: An adversary within Very Close range becomes temporarily disoriented and becomes Vulnerable
Fearful Surge: When you role a success with fear, a spark of primordial chaos destabilizes the area around you.
Roll a d4 Wild Surge Table immediately to trigger an unpredictable magical effect:
1 - Overcharged Strike: Your attack hit a little too hard and rebounded. Mark an armor slot
2 - Dimensional Tear: A glowing, unstable rift rips open adjacent to you and remains open until the next surge. Any creature that starts their turn within Very Close range of the rift, or moves through it, is instantly teleported to a random open space within Close range
3 - Gravity well: Gravity around you warps. The next attack within close range automatically targets you. Ranged attacks have advantage.
4 - Earthquake: The ground writhes under you. Every creature within very close range is knocked prone.
Magic Awareness: You can open your awareness to the presence of concentrated magic. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any spell or magic item within 60 feet of you that isn’t behind total cover. When you sense a spell, you learn which school of magic it belongs to.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Controlled Chaos: As your connection to volatile magic deepens, you learn to channel chaos rather than simply withstand it.
Surge Control: Whenever you roll on the Wild Surge Table, you may spend 1 Hope to add or subtract 1 from the d6 result (to a minimum of 1 or maximum of 6).
Volatile Unstoppable: While your Unstoppable Die is active, whenever its value increases, you may trigger a Wild Surge roll as a free action without spending Armor.
Primal Catalyst: You have become a walking conduit for unpredictable magic, capable of absorbing destructive energy and redirecting it back into the world.
Twice-Surged: When you roll on the Wild Surge Table, you may roll 2d6 and choose which outcome to apply, or spend 2 Hope to trigger both outcomes simultaneously.
Chaotic Discharge: Once per scene, when you take Major or Severe damage from an adversary, you can mark 2 Stress to unleash a raw blast of unpredictable energy. Every adversary within Close range must make a Reaction Roll against your Strength trait; on a failure, they take magical damage equal to your current Unstoppable Die roll plus your Strength modifier and are knocked Prone.
