Living Painter

About these subclasses

So, this idea stemmed from discussing my Painter Brawler with Klebbo. Some of the stuff they were saying got me to thinking about Vividria from Kirby Star Allies (and then subsequently Drawn To Life, and Scribblenauts, even though I haven’t played either of them), and some of the stuff she can do. I love the idea of painting something, and it coming to life. I think this comes together really well, and it’s an interesting niche. I think it’s fun.

Living Painter

Spellcast Trait: Presence

Use your painting skill to bring to life all sorts of things.

Foundation

Drawn to Life: Spend a Hope to paint, and bring to life a creature. You may have a number of these creatures equal to your Presence trait. Once the creature fulfills its purpose, it disappears. The creatures you may choose from are listed here:

  • Fighter-When you make a successful attack roll, the Fighter adds your Rally die to the damage roll a number of times equal to your Presence Trait.

  • Tank-When you get hit with an attack, the Tank reduces damage by one Threshold a number of times equal to your Presence Trait.

  • Booster-You may give a creature within Close range a boost to their next roll equal to your Presence Trait a number of times equal to your Presence Trait.

Restful Painting: Once per session, when you take a rest, you may share the benefits of one activity you do with the entire party.

Specialization

Empowered Drawing: Your list of Creatures from your Drawn to Life feature expands. You may now choose from the following:

  • Trap-Whenever a creature of your choosing moves within Very Close range of you, they must make a reaction roll (15). On a failure, they take 2d8 damage, and become temporarily restrained. Once the restrained condition is cleared, or the creature affected by it marks its last Hit Point, the Creature disappears.

  • Guide-The Guide gives you Advantage on Reaction rolls a number of times equal to your Presence Trait.

  • Reflector-Whenever you miss an attack roll, you may gain advantage on the attack a number of times equal to your Presence Trait.

Loot Maker: Once per session, Mark a Stress to paint a Common Consumable Item. The item then becomes real, and you may add it to your inventory.

Mastery

Skilled Drawing: Your list of Creatures from your Drawn to Life feature expands. You may now choose from the following:

  • Sparkler-Whenever a creature of your choosing moves into Very Close range of you, they must make a reaction roll (16). On a failure, they are vulnerable. Once the vulnerable condition is cleared, or the creature affected by it marks its last Hit Point, the Creature disappears.
