Pact of the Changing

About these subclasses

The Pact of The Changing allows you to change forms depending on what the situation calls for, allowing you to change your tactics, and strategize for what you need.

(I am aware that some of these abilities may be a little OP, but they go away with Severe damage, and you can only have one at a time, so it’s not totally unfair. Like I mentioned when making “Pact of The Lightbringer”, the Favor system for Warlocks means things automatically happen, so abilities have to play differently from other classes. Still, I think this is a fun idea. I am open to suggestions on any improvements. That also applies to all my Homebrew.)

Pact of the Changing

Spellcast Trait: Presence

Your Patron grants you new forms, allowing you to adapt to different situations, and come out ahead.

Foundation

Formchanger: You may spend a Favor to take on a new Form until the end of the scene, you mark Severe damage, or until you use this feature again.

Forms: You gain the following Forms:

  • Extended-Your weapon attacks extend one range up to Very Far.

  • Shaded-Add your Tier to your Evasion.

  • Unsettling-Whenever you succeed with Fear, you may gain a Hope.

Specialization

Added Forms: You may now use the following Forms:

  • Hardened-You may add your Presence Trait to your damage thresholds.

  • Searing-You may add a roll of your Patron die to your damage rolls.

  • Lucky-You may add 1d4 to action rolls.

Infectious Instability: Once per session when you take Severe damage while in one of your Forms, you may spend a Favor to make the attacking creature Vulnerable until the next time they take damage. When they next take damage, they take additional magic Damage equal to your Patron die using your proficiency.

Mastery

Compiled Forms: You may now use the following Forms:

  • Ominous-Whenever a creature misses an attack on you, they must Mark a Stress.

  • Speedy-You may move into Very Far range without making an Agility roll.

  • Mimic-Whenever someone within Very Close range gains a Hope, Clears a Stress, or Clears a Hit Point, you may do so as well.

Shared Form: You may spend a Favor to give another creature within Very Close range the Form you currently have. They retain the Form so long as you retain it.
