Snake Oil

Spellcast Trait: Presence

Play the Snake Oil if you want to con your marks with lofty sermons and support your allies with questionable cure-alls.

Foundation

Mystery Tonic: At the end of a rest, place a d4 Tonic Die on this card. You can spend a Tonic Die by rolling it and choose a willing target within Close range.

On a result of 1, the target marks a Stress. On a result of 2–4, the target clears a number of Hit Points or Stress equal to the result (divided however the target chooses).

Quick Con: Once per scene, you can try to sell something worthless to a target within Close range by making a Presence Roll. On a success, gain a handful of gold. On a failure, mark a Stress.

Specialization

Bamboozle: Once per rest, when you make an action roll to distract or con one or more people, you can use a d20 as your Hope Die. On a roll with Fear, the GM gains an additional Fear.

Efficient Chemist: At the end of a rest, you gain an additional Tonic Die. Place it on your Snake Oil foundation card. Once per rest, you can use a downtime move to spend a handful of gold and gain an additional Tonic Die.

Mastery

Miracle Tonics: Your Tonic Die increases to a d6. Additionally, when you spend a Tonic Die, the target can choose to gain any number of Hope instead of clearing the same number of Hit Points or Stress (even if they have no marked Hit Points or Stress).

Easy Rider: When you take a short rest while mounted, you can roll a d6 instead of a d4 for your downtime moves. When you whistle for your party’s mounts you can spend a handful of gold to introduce a stagecoach, drawn by the party’s mounts, to the scene.
