Zealot

About these subclasses

This is my attempt to translate the Zealot Barbarian from 5e. I had to change things around a lot to make it work in Daggerheart, but I think the flavor is there, and I like how it ended up.

Spellcast Trait: Strength

Use your connection to the Divine to empower you in battle

Foundation

Zeal: Spend a Hope to activate your Zeal, which lasts until the end of the scene. When you activate your Zeal, you may choose one of the following options:

  • Add 1d6 magic Damage to damage rolls.

  • Reduce incoming damage by 1d10

Devotion Before Death: Once per session when you mark your last Hit Point, place a number of Tokens on this card equal to your Strength Trait. As long as you have at least one token, you do not make a Death Move. Whenever you make an action roll, remove a token. When you remove your last token, you make a Death Move. If you clear one or more Hit Points while you have a token on this card, you may clear all tokens without making a Death Move.

Specialization

Widened Zeal: While you're Zeal is active, you gain advantage on reaction rolls. Additionally, when you activate your Zeal, you may Mark a Stress to give all allies your Zeal ability.

Devout's Blessing: Whenever you Help someone, you may spend an additional Hope to turn all of their Advantage dice to d8s. If your Zeal is active while using this feature, their Advantage dice become d10s.

Mastery

Divine Zeal: Your Zeal ability improves. You may now choose:

  • Add 2d6 Magic Damage to damage rolls.

  • Reduce incoming damage by 2d10.

Cry of the Devout: Mark a Stress to give all allies within Very Far range advantage on their next attack. If you use this ability while your Zeal is active, if their attacks are successful, they may add 1d8 magic Damage to the damage roll.
