Effect

Crystal Ball Summoning Spend 2 Hope to summon the creature or entity contained within the crystal ball. Once summoned, it obeys your commands and functions using the same mechanics as a Ranger’s companion. To command the summoned creature, make a Spellcast Roll. You may spend 1 Hope to add a relevant Companion Experience to the roll. On a success with Hope, you gain advantage on your next action if it builds upon the creature’s success. When commanded to attack, the creature gains any benefits that would normally apply only to you, such as Ranger’s Focus. On a successful attack, its damage roll uses your Proficiency and the creature’s damage die. Whenever the creature would take any amount of damage, it marks 1 Stress. When it marks its final Stress, it leaves the scene and remains unavailable until the start of your next long rest. At that time, it returns with 1 Stress cleared. Whenever you use a downtime move that clears Stress from yourself, the creature clears the same amount of Stress. Each time you level up, choose one of the following improvements for the summoned creature: Intelligent: Permanently add +1 to one Companion Experience. Light in the Dark: Gain an additional Hope slot. Creature Comfort: Once per rest, gain 1 Hope or clear 1 Stress from both you and the creature. Armored: Mark one of your Armor Slots instead of marking the creature’s Stress. Vicious: Increase the creature’s damage die or attack range by one step. Resilient: Give the creature one additional Stress slot. Aware: Permanently increase the creature’s Evasion by +2. Bonded: When you mark your final Hit Point, roll one d6 for each of the creature’s unmarked Stress slots, then mark those slots. If any die rolls a 6, clear your final Hit Point and return to the scene. When all the balls are paired: Rose Shogun Roach is a massive sparkling pink mecha cockroach summoned when all of the crystal balls are united. As the ritual begins, Erynelle’s eyes glow bright pink and she rises into the air with her hands lifted high. Pink smoke pours around her, filling the air with a sweet perfume, until her form disappears completely. A moment later, the smoke parts to reveal the towering fusion creature, gleaming in pink armor with radiant sparkling eyes. The Rose Shogun Roach obeys its summoners' will and uses the combined stats of all participating members, representing the fused strength, hope, and power of the entire party.

About this item

Within the crystal ball rests a cluster of tiny crystal mushrooms, their translucent caps glowing with shifting rainbow light. When the summoner offers Hope, the mushrooms awaken and flow from the crystal, transforming into dozens of gleaming mushroom shaped shards. These fragments gather around the summoner, attaching themselves gently to their clothing and body while others float nearby. They move in perfect harmony with the summoner, almost like a second skin that can sense danger and emotion.

Although the shards appear sharp and fragile, they are strangely soft and rubbery. Whenever a physical attack approaches, they instinctively stretch across the summoner and form a flexible crystal barrier. Weapons, claws, and other solid strikes sink briefly into their elastic surface before being bounced away with a bright flash and a playful chiming sound.

When their restorative power is called upon, the shards bloom into small crystal mushrooms and release clouds of luminous spores. The spores drift toward injured allies as though guided by a mind of their own, surrounding them in warm, sparkling light. As the spores settle into their wounds, they dissolve and directly restore lost health. Once the healing is complete, the mushrooms return to their shard forms and gather around the summoner again, remaining closely connected to them like a protective symbiotic companion.
