Fortune Teller

Classes Designed by Chapo the Dog • Art by Elven Maid Inn

About this class

The future is a mystery, constantly in flux. However, there are some who are able to interpret the chaos, using cards or the lines on an individual’s hand to reveal their character and predict their future. These fortune tellers draw power and influence from their connection to the future, weaving it into spells and manipulating probability to shift the odds in their favor.

Class features

  • Fortune Dice

Acquire a plastic cup or other non-see-through container you can roll dice in. At the start of each session, place a number of d12s in the cup equal to your Spellcast trait. These are your Fortune Dice and you can never have more than your Spellcast trait. Shake the cup and place it on the table, inverted, covering the dice. When you roll your Duality Dice, you can mark a Stress to reveal your Fortune Dice and use one of their results in place of your Hope or Fear die. When you do, remove that die from the pool, shake the remaining dice in the cup and place them, covered, back on the table. At the end of the session, clear unspent dice.

  • Reading

Once per rest, during a calm moment, you can read the fortune of another PC. Roll your Duality Dice. On a roll with Fear, your reading is either woefully inaccurate or filled with dark portents. You and the other PC both mark a Stress but gain advantage on your next reaction roll. On a roll with Hope, your reading is accurate or filled with good omens. You and the other PC both clear Stress equal to 1d4 plus your tier. On a critical roll, the other PC also gains a Hope and you gain an additional Fortune Die.

Class items

  • A deck of divining cards or a cracked crystal ball.
