Welcome to Heart of Daggers (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We operate www.heartofdaggers.com, a community-driven marketplace where creators can share, sell, or offer for free their homebrew content compatible with the Daggerheart TTRPG system.

By accessing or using our Service, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use our Service.

You are free to upload and sell your content on other platforms. We do not require marketplace exclusivity and do not restrict or reduce your revenue share simply because your content is available elsewhere.

1. Your Content, Your Rights

We firmly believe that creators should retain full ownership of their work. When you upload content to Heart of Daggers:

  • Ownership: You retain all rights to your content. We do not claim ownership over any material you share.
  • License to Us: By uploading content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, display, distribute, and promote your content on or in connection with Heart of Daggers for the purposes of operating and promoting the marketplace.
  • Responsibility: You are responsible for ensuring that your content complies with applicable laws and does not infringe upon any third-party rights.

2. Community Guidelines

Heart of Daggers is committed to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment. We ask that all users:

  • Respect Others: Engage with fellow community members in a respectful and constructive manner.
  • No Infringing Content: Do not upload content that infringes upon the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Compliance with Laws: Ensure that your activities on the platform comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these guidelines.

3. Marketplace Eligibility and Competing Services

Heart of Daggers is both a creator marketplace and a platform providing tools and services for playing, creating, managing, and supporting Daggerheart games.

While creators are free to publish and sell their content through other marketplaces, websites, and services, access to the Heart of Daggers marketplace is not guaranteed.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse, reject, unpublish, or remove any product or creator from the Heart of Daggers marketplace where the creator, publisher, business, organisation, product, or associated service operates, promotes, develops, or is substantially involved with a service that directly competes with Heart of Daggers or substantially overlaps with the functionality of our platform.

This may include, but is not limited to, competing or substantially similar:

  • character creators, character builders, or digital character sheets;
  • encounter managers, encounter builders, or combat management tools;
  • campaign management tools;
  • homebrew creation, storage, sharing, or publishing platforms;
  • digital rules, compendium, or game-reference platforms;
  • virtual tabletop tools or other digital play-management services; and
  • other applications, websites, platforms, or services that we reasonably determine compete with, replicate, substitute for, or substantially overlap with Heart of Daggers features or services.

The existence of some overlapping functionality does not automatically make a creator or product ineligible. We may consider the nature, purpose, scale, audience, functionality, and commercial positioning of the relevant service when making this determination.

We may make marketplace eligibility decisions on a case-by-case basis and are not required to accept or continue hosting every creator or product submitted to the marketplace.

Where appropriate, we may remove individual products, restrict future submissions, or revoke a creator’s marketplace access. Unless immediate action is reasonably necessary, we will endeavour to communicate significant marketplace eligibility decisions to the affected creator.

4. Payments and Commissions

Heart of Daggers supports creators by providing a platform to monetize their work:

  • Sales: Creators can choose to sell their content or offer it for free.
  • Commissions: To ensure our platform thrives, we take a 15% commission on each sale. Pro sellers retain 100% of the sale price.
  • Pro Seller Status: Pro sellers are creators who meet certain criteria set by Heart of Daggers. Details on how to become a Pro seller are available on our website.
  • Payment Processing: All payments are processed through third-party payment processors. We do not store or have access to your payment information.

5. Refunds

We strive to ensure satisfaction with all transactions. However, due to the nature of our platform—where digital products are delivered immediately upon purchase—refunds are rarely possible and will only be considered in limited circumstances.

Refunds will only be granted if:

  • The product was not as described or was misrepresented on the product page.
  • The downloaded file is missing, corrupted, or cannot be accessed, and the creator has not provided a working replacement within a reasonable timeframe.
  • The product was listed in error or is not compatible with the intended use, as clearly outlined in the listing.

Refunds will NOT be granted if:

  • The customer has simply changed their mind after purchase.
  • The product has already been downloaded successfully and functions as described.
  • Dissatisfaction is based on subjective preference rather than an objective fault with the listing.

How refunds are handled:

  • All refund requests must be submitted via support@heartofdaggers.com or through our support page.
  • We manually investigate reports and refund requests to ensure fair treatment for both customers and creators.
  • If a product is found to violate our guidelines or otherwise qualifies for a refund, we may issue a refund at our discretion.
  • In cases of repeated or fraudulent refund requests, we reserve the right to deny future requests or take additional action.

If you encounter an issue with a digital purchase, please contact us as soon as possible with a detailed explanation and supporting information, such as screenshots or error messages.

6. No Scraping, Crawling, Mirroring, or Unauthorized Data Extraction

You may not scrape, crawl, harvest, copy, mirror, bulk download, index, cache, reproduce, or otherwise extract content or data from Heart of Daggers without our prior written permission.

This restriction applies to all parts of the platform, including but not limited to marketplace listings, creator profiles, product pages, free content, paid content, homebrew entries, metadata, images, descriptions, search results, APIs, HTML responses, and any other content or data made available through the Service.

You may not use bots, scripts, spiders, crawlers, automated tools, browser automation, reverse engineering, undocumented APIs, or other technical methods to access, collect, store, republish, import, train on, resell, mirror, or integrate Heart of Daggers content into another website, app, tool, database, model, service, or platform.

You may not use the Service in a way that bypasses, avoids, disables, overloads, or interferes with our access controls, rate limits, security measures, platform features, or intended user experience.

If we determine that you have scraped, mirrored, bulk copied, or otherwise misused Heart of Daggers content or data, we may take action at our discretion, including blocking access, suspending or terminating accounts, disabling associated accounts, revoking access to the Service where appropriate, and taking further legal or technical action.

Accounts, IP addresses, devices, services, domains, applications, organisations, or users associated with scraping, mirroring, automated extraction, or unauthorised integrations may also be restricted or banned.

If you would like to partner with Heart of Daggers, build an integration, request data access, or discuss an authorised use of our content, please contact us first at support@heartofdaggers.com. We are open to legitimate partnerships, but permission must be granted in writing before any automated access, content extraction, or platform integration occurs.

7. Account and Marketplace Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts, marketplace privileges, product listings, or access to parts of the Service where a user violates these Terms, engages in harmful behaviour, becomes ineligible under our marketplace requirements, or where we reasonably determine that continued access could harm Heart of Daggers, its creators, users, community, or services.

Removal of a creator or product from the marketplace does not transfer ownership of that creator’s content to Heart of Daggers.

If you believe your account or marketplace access was restricted in error, please contact us.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes where appropriate. Continued use of the Service after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
