Effect

Bottoms Up: When you first receive this card, place 3 tokens on it. If you roll a Failure With Fear, you are permitted to spend a token, take a swig and roll a d100. Consult the GM for the result. When all tokens have been spent, the bottle is deemed to be empty and this card must be returned to your vault permanently.

Usage notes

Using a consumable typically doesn’t require a roll unless stated. Under pressure, the GM may call for an action roll.

About this consumable

A distinctly dodgy looking bottle of home brew with a sinister scent. The cork will often start smoking at random intervals and its contents tend to change colour every hour or so.

GM Effect Reference Table (GM Eyes Only):

01: You can somehow touch, smell and hear the fabric of time. Mark a stress to either slow time to a halt, move anywhere within Very Far Range and immediately take the spotlight OR return to any moment in the past up to 1 hour ago. Return this card to your vault permanently after taking your chosen action.

02-05: Clear 6 Stress. Describe how you do this and what this feels like.

06-10: Your skin bubbles and boils nauseatingly, eventually hardening into a thick layer of gnarled calluses. Add 2 to your Base Armour Score. This effect remains in place until you find a way of healing the calluses. If you are healed, both your appearance and Base Armour Score will revert to their original state.

11-20: You emit a horrid belch of searing white and green flame and a small dinner roll shoots out of your mouth. When thrown within Close range, this dinner roll multiplies on contact with whatever it touches and will continue to multiply exponentially until it makes a 38 foot pile of dinner rolls. The dinner rolls are poisonous are will inflict d4+1 mag if they are eaten.

21-30: After coughing up several puffs of green sparks, your voice immediately becomes the same as the last NPC you met. This effect lasts until your next long rest.

31-40: Your immediately swell to the size of a 15 foot giant. This effect lasts until your next short rest. During this time, all Melee weapons can be used up to Very Close range and you gain an additional HP slot. If you are already a Giant, you instantly turn into an amphibious racoon (use Agile Scout stats from Tier 1 Druid Beastform with advantage on all water-based rolls) and will remain so until your next short rest.

41-50: An ethereal vision of Haldstat materialises before you holding an empty bottle, demanding you refill their bottle with yours or suffer the consequences. Describe what they are and what they look like. You may choose to either hand your bottle over to them or keep it and fight them. Haldstat has the following stats:

Difficulty – 18
Thresholds- 20/32
Experience- ‘Give It Back!’ +5
HP-8
Stress- 4
Attack- +4
‘Empty Bottle’ | Melee 2d6 + 8

Haldstat will disappear at your next short rest. Until that point, they will continue to ask for a refill until they’re either defeated or given the refill whereupon they will immediately disappear.

51-60: Thick locks of transparent hair shoot out of your head at an astoundingly fast rate and begin to mimic the colours and textures of all your surroundings within Very Close range. Roll a d20. The result is how many feet your hair has now grown to. If over 3 feet, all Agility rolls you make have disadvantage until the hair is cut. However, if left uncut, you may choose to spend a Hope to camouflage yourself in your hair and become Cloaked (rules as per Cloaked condition). When the hair is cut, this effect ceases.

61-70: Your eyes immediately go jet black, you become home sick for a place you’ve never seen and begin to recite an off-the-cuff poem about how beautiful this place is. You cannot see anything for the duration of the song. Any allies within Close Range gain 2 Hope and clear a Stress. Any adversaries within Close Range must make a Reaction Roll (16) or become temporarily Horrified. While Horrified, they’re Vulnerable. When you finish the poem, you revert to your normal state.

71-80: A grating, crackly voice calling itself ‘The Wee Wise One’ starts to whisper things inside your head and gives you unsolicited advice. You may gain a domain card relevant to your Class up to a maximum of 4 levels above your current level until your next Long Rest after which it must be returned. If you suffer severe damage prior to your next long rest, ‘The Wee Wise One’ disappears and you must return your extra domain card immediately.

81-90: The delicate equilibrium of elements within the bottle is upset and it spontaneously combusts into an enormous swirling green and white fireball. Anyone within close range of the bottle must make an Agility Reaction Roll (17) or take 3d20+5 mag and be temporarily lit On Fire. When a creature acts while On Fire, they must take an extra 2d6 magic damage if they are still On Fire at the end of their action.

91-95: The GM Gains 10 Fear and you gain an additional token to place on this card.

96-99: Gain 6 HP. Describe how you do this and what it feels like.

100: An invisible weapon of immense power appears in your hand that only you can see and describe. Roll your Duality Dice. If your Hope die is higher, the weapon is real and has the following stats: Knowledge Far 6d20+8 mag. Your next attack must use this weapon. You may only attack with this weapon once, whereupon it will disappear regardless of a hit or a miss. If your Fear die is higher, the weapon is a hallucination and you must use it on your next attack with 0 damage being inflicted upon the target.
