There was a master swordsmith during the Interregnum named Tor Bronzetooth. Hailing from the northern steppes, this Orcish smith achieved the pinnacle of his craft but all for naught. His village became the site of a battle between the armies Hou Loubei and the remainders of the Aristocratic Alliance. It is said that there was a duel between the Grand Strategist of Hou Loubei, Luge Angzhi and Thorotax, a young thunder dragon who was operating as a retainer for the Aristocrat Wu Athellion at the site of the forge. The cataclysmic damage of this duel destroyed the forge and, when Thorotax fell dead upon the forge it collapsed the building and killed the Bronzetooth family who were hiding in the cellar. Tor Bronzetooth survived the assault and struggled out of the rubble of his forge to discover Thorotax slain and Luge Angzhi long since departed. Bronzetooth cut out the heart of Thorotax and offered it as a sacrifice to his family when he buried them.
This blasphemous act, born of rage and the suffering of war, drew the attention, and the pity, of Gruthbag The Heroic. The orcish god of warfare appeared to Bronzetooth at the graveside and commanded him to build a new forge and to place the heart of Thorotax below the coals. He promised that Bronzetooth would create a sword that would surpass all others, one worthy of the legacy of his family.
Bronzetooth did as the god commanded him and, for eight days and eight nights he toiled over the forge. The flames burned green from the heart of the dragon at its core. In his grief and in the power of his magically enhanced forge, Bronzetooth crafted a sword of supernal quality and yet, still, it was not a satisfactory legacy for his family. Bronzetooth prayed to Gruthbag and asked for guidance as his legacy was incomplete. In that moment Gruthbag came to Bronzetooth and said that, to complete the sword, two souls were required. The first was that of Thorotax, the dragon who killed his family in his ruin. The second was the soul of a humanoid. To complete the sword he would need to quench it in the lifeblood of a mortal.

Bronzetooth understood and, in his final act, he fell upon Green Destiny, quenching the blade in his own heart’s blood and completing his masterwork. The sword was collected by Gruthbag who delivered it into the hands of the hero Borog Stonecrusher. This Myrmidon wandered the Rivers and Lakes in the late Interregnum and was never defeated while wielding Green Destiny. But his rivals coveted the blade and he was slain by poison. The sword disappeared into the Rivers and Lakes. Every few centuries the sword appears in the hands of a hero or a villain. It is the greatest sword ever created but it holds within it the imperishable grief of every person ever slain by it. The weight of sadness on the sword hangs like a shadow over it and very few warriors who have wielded Green Destiny have met happy ends.

Green Destiny is a classically styled scholar’s sword with a bronze crossguard designed to look like a stylized raven in flight with emeralds for eyes. The pommel of the sword is a single emerald. The sword has a damascus pattern inlaid with jade-green tracery. The sword never gleams in the sunlight and light will seem to bend near it so that it always rests just slightly in shadow.
