Brawler (Weapon Adjusted)

Classes Designed by austin outlaw • Art by Shaun Ellis

About this class

A change from the current version of the Brawler class from The Void to give more agency towards utilizing weapons with a stronger unarmed attack. This will allow weaponized playstyles such as Monks, fist-fighting Gladiators, and other fighting-game characters.

The “I Am The Weapon” feature simply makes unarmed strikes lean towards an always available high-damage potential option while still being able to utilize weapons for consistency. The evasion increase has also been built naturally into the starting evasion of the class.

The “Combo Strikes” feature also clarifies that if a damage roll is simply made within Melee range that follow up unarmed hits from Combo Strikes are possible depending on your choice of weapon.

Class features

  • I Am the Weapon

Your unarmed strikes are considered a Melee weapon, use the trait of your choice, and deal d8+d6 phy damage using your Proficiency. You are still able to make unarmed attacks while wielding any weapons, such as striking with an elbow or supporting a two-handed weapon in an off-hand to hit with a palm/fist.

  • Combo Strikes

After making a damage roll with a Melee weapon or in Melee range but before dealing that damage to the target, mark a Stress to start a combo strike. When you do, roll your Combo Die and note its value. Then, roll your Combo Die again. If the value of the second roll is equal to or greater than your first roll, continue rolling rolling until the latest Combo Die’s roll is less than the roll that preceded it. Total all rolled values and add that amount to your weapon’s damage. These values cannot be adjusted by features that affect damage dice.

Your Combo Die starts as a d4. When you level up, once per tier you may use one of your advancement options to increase your Combo Die instead.
