Spellblade
About this class
Spellblades wield steel and magic in perfect harmony. Many ancient traditions exist to train Spellblades, requiring dedicated practitioners to hone both their body and mind. This combination of explosive magic and weapon mastery is useful for only one purpose: war. The choice of why they fight and when is a heavy burden placed on all Spellblades.

Mark of Duality
Foundation
Dual Elements: At character creation, choose two oppositional elements (e.g. fire and ice, light and shadow). You can channel those elements into subtle and harmless effects.
When you are successfully attacked and the value of the attack roll is odd, you can mark 2 Mana Stress to deal the attacker d6 mag damage using your spellcast trait.
If the attack roll is even instead, you can mark a Mana Stress to reduce the damage you take by 1d8.
Mark of Duality
Specialization
Elemental Potential: When you Enhance your weapon, roll a die. Gain a bonus based on the die's result that lasts while the weapon is Enhanced:
Odd: +1 Evasion. When an attack roll against you fails, the attacker marks a Stress.
Even: Gain a bonus to the weapon's damage rolls equal to twice your marked Mana Stress.
Greater Protection: The damage reduction of your foundation feature increases to 1d12.
Mark of Duality
Mastery
Masterful Balance: Everything you do is done in flawless balance with your elements.
You can mark a Mana Stress to change an action or reaction roll you are making to use your Spellcast trait instead.
Masterful Protection: The damage reduction of your foundation feature increases to 1d20.
Mark of Awakening
Foundation
Sentience: Your primary weapon is sentient - describe its origin and personality. Make a Spellcast Roll (10) to commune with it: it has strong instincts, and a limited but unique range of knowledge about history and monsters.
Guided Hands: After making an attack roll with your primary weapon, you can mark 2 Mana Stress to increase your Proficiency by 1 for the attack. When you do, reroll the attack roll if it failed.
Mark of Awakening
Specialization
Enhanced Sentience: When you commune with your weapon, it now exhibits nearly flawless instincts and has deeper knowledge of history and monsters.
Guided Spirit: When you Help an Ally, roll the advantage die twice and take the higher result. On a 6, once per rest, you can mark a Mana Stress to change your ally's roll with Fear into a roll with Hope.
Mark of Awakening
Mastery
Paragon: Gain an extra Hope slot you can use as long as your sentient weapon is active.
Avatar: Your weapon has an incorporeal avatar. Mark a Mana Stress to project the avatar to anywhere in Very Far range, or anywhere you have been before.
It can take actions from that location, and make weapon attacks or cast spells as though you were making them. Shortly after it acts, the image of the avatar drifts back into your weapon.
