Effect

This item can be used on a sapient creature that is either dying or died within the last hour. Upon doing so, the memories of the victim will be painfully absorbed and stored within the Scorned Memory. At this time, the Scorned Memory becomes 'filled.' A filled Scorned Memory can then be used to inherit certain pieces of knowledge from the victim. (Such as the hiding place of a rebel force, or the recipe to create a cure for a deadly plague.) Once a Filled Scorned Memory is used in this way, it rapidly dries and dissolves into useless dust.

Using a consumable typically doesn’t require a roll unless stated. Under pressure, the GM may call for an action roll.

This profane artifact, the brain of a living creature scrubbed of all knowledge and memory, was created by perverse forms of dark magic or necromancy. It serves to gather valuable information from slain rivals or valuable hostages or prisoners without the wasted time of interrogation, or the drain on resources required to feed them. Given its abhorrent origins and inhumane nature, it is often looked upon with scorn and hatred, outlawed in many jurisdictions as an affront to life itself.
