Fall counter
When a player fails the Dangerous Wind reaction roll set a fall counter to 4 on a d4. Each time they fail a group challenge to climb back up increment this counter down 1. If the player succeeds in a group challenge to climb back up increment this counter up 1. If the counter increases beyond 4 it is cleared and the character is safe. If the counter falls to 0 the player must make an immediate death move.
-
Test of Resolve
The players must make a group check to cross the narrow ledge and a second group check to climb a steep stair carved out of the living rock. After passing these obstacles they will arrive at a plateau where an adult Thunder Dragon, Thartaax awaits them. Tarthaax will only allow players who demonstrate sufficient resolve to pass. Tarthaax will halt the fight if their HP reaches 2, if the HP of every player is 2 or lower or if any one player must make a death move.
Questions- You come to a very narrow passage. Barely wide enough to go single-file, the only safety equipment is an iron chain pinned into the cliff face. How do you cross it?
- You come to the long stair to the third stage. As you begin climbing you look up and are horrified to see the stair rising ahead of you into the distance. How will you gather the resolve to go on?
Actions
action-
Dangerous windFear 1
The trail from the cabin to the Temple of Thardax is narrow, with a sheer cliff to the right and a steep drop to the right. Spend 1 fear. Every player must make an agility or strength reaction roll. On a failure they take 2d6 physical damage and are vulnerable as the wind tosses them over the edge. If a player is tossed over the edge, they can initiate a group challenge to climb back up. On a failure they slide further down the slope, taking an additional 2d6 damage and incrementing the fall counter down by 1.
Questions- The wind blows in fierce gusts and gales. What will you do to hold on?
Reactions
reactionAbout this environment
The climb from the cabin to the third stage is perilous. There is a narrow path, barely wide enough to cross single-file and you must pass it. From there, there is a steep stair that rises up the bare side of the mountain, now peeking out of the tree line. Rumours tell that draconic cultist, and worse, haunt this stretch of the trail. They are obsessed with protecting the privacy of the ancient dragon and will allow no mortal to pass. And beyond that, Tarthaax, the most loyal child of Thardax, awaits to render their judgment if you are worthy to petition the ancient.
