Features

Passives

passive
  • Finding Our Way

The party is lost within the smoke. Start a Countdown (8) when they enter this environment. Each time a PC rolls a Success with Hope, decrease it by 1. When the Countdown reaches 0, they manage to find the right path.

  • Melted Merchant Cart

The PCs can find a cache of valuables inside the cart. On a successful roll to investigate the cart, a PC can spend up to 5 Hope to roll that number of d6s. Each result rolled gains the party the following loot or equipment:

    1. Loose gemstones, jewelry, or baubles equal to a chest of coins

    2. A common item or consumable

    3. An uncommon item or consumable

    4. A rare item or consumable

    5. A legendary item or consumable

    6. A weapon or an armor from the party’s tier

  • Burning Ooze

Patches of ground are covered in thick burning purple ooze. A PC attempting to cross the ooze must make an Agility roll. On a failure, they take 2d10+2 magical damage and must mark a Stress.

Actions

  • Melting Faces
    Fear 1

PCs may approach the surrounding environment while they investigate. When a PC does, spend a Fear to have the player describe the face of someone their character loved when they were young. They see that person's face in a melting tree and must mark a Stress.

Reactions

  • Shudder and Dust

When a PC rolls a failure with Fear while in this environment, they must make a Finesse Reaction roll to avoid breathing in the dust and vapours. On a failure, they become Vulnerable until the end of the scene. On a success with Hope, they can no longer be affected by the dust or vapours.

  • Vicious Beasts

Once per scene, when a PC fails a roll with Fear, 2 Pain Beasts take notice at Very Far range.
