Features

Passives

passive
  • Hallowed Temple

The Cerulean Temple can also use the Hallowed Temple Environment Card.

  • Fickle Favor

The Cerulean Temple only enjoys the benefits of its Hallowed Temple and Healimg Waters Features as long as the Staff of Promise remains at the Heart of the Temple. If it is removed, these Features can't be accessed.

Actions

action
  • Healing Waters

When a PC finishes a Rest within The Cerulean Temple, they can spend 1 Hope to gain a vial of Temple Spring Water (Standard Healing Potion).

    Questions
    • What qualities does the temple spring water possess?
  • Cloistered Knowledge

A PC can attempt to persuade the Priests to allow them access to their records and scripts by making a Presence Roll. If they succeed, the Temple's Archives become accessible to them and their allies. On a failure with Fear, a PC can spend Handfuls of Gold equal to the current amount of Fear the GM has to gain access anyways.

By spending time, here pouring over the scrolls and tomes, a PC can make either an Instinct Roll or Knowledge Roll to uncover two pieces of the city's and the temple's oldest history. On a critical success, a PC can learn 3 pieces of information. On a Failure with Fear, a PC can Mark 1 Stress to still learn 1 piece of information, but can not come return to the Archives until they finish a Long Rest.

    • Over 700 Years Ago, there was no Cerulean Coast. Instead were the 700 Kingdoms of Allory, who waged the Eternal War with themselves and their neighbors. A War spurned on by a "Seductress in Shadow"

    • 7 Kings of Allory paid grave insult to the Gods Cerulean, resulting in a devastation of the land now called, "The Wall Which Wept", and the eventual formation of the Cerulean Coast as it is known today

    • The Wall Which Wept took the form of an enormous wave of water, heralded by the worst storm in recorded history. If the temple records are to be believed, the devastation was brought about by a great dragon servant of the Gods Cerulean

    • The Temple's Records remember the 700th Prince of Allory, who beseeched the Goddess for mercy and amnesty. Having had no hands in the atrocities of his kinsmen, he and his allies were spared

    • After the storms finally subsided, the Gods Cerulean sent a towering piece of driftwood careening through the sky, to land atop the cliff where the Temple now stands. It was called the Staff of Promise, for its signal to the Last King of Allory that so long as it remained, the Cerulean Coast would know peace

    Questions
    • How does a temple dedicated to the Ocean preserve knowledge?
    • What sound is constantly on the wind?
    • What kind of atrocities did the Kings of Allory commit that would warrant such a response as the Wall Which Wept?

Reactions

  • While The Wizard's Away
    Fear 3

The First time the PCs arrive in El Shagorna or The Cerulean Temple proper, begin a Progress Countdown (8). Progress the Countdown whenever the PC's make an Action Roll (outside of combat), or take a Rest. When the Countdown resolves, or if you spend 3 Fear while the PC's are present in the Temple, begin the "Temple Attack!" Event.
If the PCs are not present when this Event triggers, add the following to any ongoing lists of rumors:

    • The Head Priestess of the Cerulean Temple was murdered, and a sacred artifact stolen. Witnesses saw the assailants dragging a large piece of wood off the cliff and into the ocean
