This rough crystal is approximately the size of a melon. This powerful item is a potent source of mana. Any attempt to use this item requires a DC 20 spellcast roll. Once a day: It can transfer upto 12 points to mana crystals Give a use of a spell ability that can be exhausted Draw one of the mana crystals charges for personal use charging yourself until used or next rest. Interface and then power magical technology. A roll with fear creates an encounter with chaos or other forms of elemental appropriate to the local A failed roll triggers a backlash, discharging the crystal dealing 2d20 direct magical damage and they become dazed (vulnerable and rolls with disadvantage) until they roll a success with hope.
