Items placed in a nifling bag will live inside a pocket dimension as part of the Nifling Space (The border between all realms). The mouth of the bag will vary in size and shape. As long as an item will fit inside the mouth of the bag it can be held in the Nifling space indefinitely. Living things placed in the bag are unable to breath and occasionally can not be retrieved from the bag if held more than a few minutes.

Items can be retrieved by visualizing the item you need to retrieve before opening the bag. Only one item at a time can be retrieved. Each opening and closing of the bag will allow for an additional item to be retrrieved. An open Nifling bag should always be closed after insertion of a new item or retrieveal of an existing item. Myth and Legend says that a bag left open for too long is a violation of the Nifling Accords and a Nifling may vist the offender. One Nifling bag should never be inserted into another Nifling box or bag. You can not quickly empty a Nifling bag by upending it since each item requires an opening and closing of the bag.
