Once per session, you can read aloud from this epic tale and summon one of its characters to aid you. Spend Hope equal to the character's Hope cost to summon it. The character will remain by your side until your next long rest or until its specific conditions have been met. - The Trickster (1 Hope): When you fail an Action Roll, you can change the result of one of your Duality Die to a 12. The Trickster then returns to the book. - The Guide (2 Hope): When all PCs have at least one Stress marked, all PCs recover 2 Stress, gain 2 Hope, or one of each. The Guide then returns to the book. - The Hero (3 Hope): When you roll a Critical Success, the GM loses a Fear and all allies within Close range are inspired. For their next action roll, they can use a d20 as their Hope die. The Hero then returns to the book. - The Great Beast (5 Hope): When summoned, make an attack roll with a +6 modifier against all adversaries within Close range. On a success, targets take 5d20 physical or magical damage and become temporarily Vulnerable. The Great Beast then returns to the book.
