About these subclasses

The subclasses for the Martyr have two very different focuses, stemming from the Stigmata class feature. The Blood of Vengeance channels the Stigmata into more powerful strikes while the Blood of Absolution enhances the healing and protective power of the Stigmata.

Blood of Vengeance

Blood of Vengeance

Spell trait: Strength

Play the Blood of Vengeance if you want to wield faith and blood as weapons against your foes.

Foundation
Tier 1

Retribution: While your Stigmata is bleeding, add the current Stigmata Die value to your damage rolls. After you deal damage to an adversary, increase the Stigmata Die value by one, up to its maximum value.

Clarity Through Pain: Once per rest, you can mark a Hit Point to clear 1d4 Stress.

Specialization
Tier 2

Deepened Stigmata: Your Stigmata Die becomes a d6. Begin with the 6 value facing up.

Face Justice: Once per rest, when an adversary forces you to mark Hit Points while your Stigmata is bleeding, you can mark an additional Hit Point and force the adversary to mark the same number of Hit Points.

Mastery
Tier 3

My Time Has Not Yet Come: If you mark your last Hit Point while your Stigmata is bleeding, your Stigmata immediately ends and you clear a Hit Point.

Faith is Strength: While your Stigmata is bleeding, you gain advantage on all non-attack Strength rolls.

Spell trait: Presence

Play the Blood of Absolution if you want to use the power of your blood to cleanse and protect your allies

Tier 1

Liberation: When you heal an ally with your Stigmata feature, you can instead clear a condition currently affecting them.

Share Conviction: If no allies within Close range have marked Hit Points, marked Stress slots, or conditions affecting them when you use your Stigmata healing, allow one of them to gain a Hope instead.

Specialization
Tier 2

Let the Blood Flow: Mark 2 Stress to increase your Stigmata Die value by 1, up to its maximum value.

Aegis of Blood: If an ally within Close range is attacked, you may add the current value of your Stigmata Die to their Evasion. If this changes the attack from a hit to a miss, decrease the Stigmata Die value by one.

Mastery
Tier 3

Fervor: While your Stigmata is bleeding, you gain advantage on all non-attack Presence rolls.

Sacrifice: Once per session, mark any number of Hit Points to clear the same amount of Hit Points on any allies within Close range, split between them as you see fit. If you mark your last Hit Point using this feature, you can use a d20 as your Hope die for the Risk it All death move.
