Martyr

Classes Designed by Chapo the Dog • Art by Giotto, public domain

About this class

Some believe they possess faith and conviction but many abandon their ideals in the face of persecution and death. Not so for the martyr. Individuals of unshakable will, they set themselves in opposition to oppression, rooting themselves in their principles and their faith to draw on incredible powers. Their very blood is enchanted and they can open wounds on their bodies and begin bleeding at will. Not only does this put them in a state of religious ecstasy but it allows them to connect with the blood of their allies, healing their wounds as the martyr becomes further injured. Much more than mere fanatics, they are ready and willing to bleed and die for their faith and their friends.

Class features

  • Stigmata

Mark a Hit Point to open wounds on your body that begin bleeding. Place a d4 Stigmata Die on your character sheet with the 4 value facing up. When an adversary deals damage to you, add the current value of the die to their damage roll, then reduce the die value by one. While your Stigmata is bleeding, you can heal an ally within Close range when you mark Hit Points. Marking 2 Hit Points allows you to clear 1 Stress or 1 Hit Point on the ally. Marking 3 Hit Points allows you to clear 1 Stress and 1 Hit Point. If you only mark 1 Hit Point, place a token on your character sheet. The next time you mark Hit Points, spend the token and treat it as if you had marked an additional Hit Point.
When the die value reaches 0 or the scene ends, remove the die and the token. Your Stigmata stops bleeding and you clear a Hit Point.

  • A Glorious End

After you make a death move, all allies within Far range gain a number of Hope equal to your tier.

Class items

  • A bloody page of scripture or a memento from a murdered friend.
