About these subclasses

The Primal Ranger allows you to sacrifice yourself to use your Focus ability more, and increase your damage output.
The Watcher Ranger allows you to use the magic of the world around you to gain knowledge, and protect people from the harmful spirits, or use the spirits against those who harm.

Primal

Spellcast Trait: Strength

Use your Primal skills to become the hunter.

Foundation

Shaped by The Wilds: You have been traversing the wilds, taking whatever nature can throw at you on the chin. Gain an additional Hit Point slot.

Primal Focus: While you have a Focus, you may Mark a Hit Point to Focus on another creature while maintaining your current focus. You may have a number of additional creatures under you Focus equal to your Strength Trait.

Specialization

Primal Domain: Spend a Hope, and make a Spellcast Roll (16). On a success, you gain an upgraded version of the Hidden condition called Camouflaged. While you are Camouflaged, your Evasion increases by your Strength Trait. Additionally, when you make a successful attack against your Focus while Camouflaged, you gain an additional level of Proficiency.

Mastery

Re-Shaped: Gain an additional Hit Point Slot

Primal Foraging: Mark a Stress, and make a Spellcast Roll (18). On a success, you may clear 1d6 Hit Points.

Watcher

Spellcast Trait: Instinct

Use your skills to protect the world around you, and protect others from the world.

Foundation

Natural Charm: Spend a Hope to add your Instinct Trait to Presence and Knowledge rolls.

Otherworldly Focus: When your Focus takes damage, even if you aren't the cause, you may Mark a Stress to add d4 Magic Damage using your Proficiency.

Specialization

Call the Spirits: Whenever you hit the target of your Focus with an attack, they take an additional 1d8 Magic Damage. You may spend a Hope to activate this ability on creatures who are not marked by your Focus.

Death Rite: Whenever you force a target to mark their last Hit Point, you may choose one of the options Below. You may choose each option once per rest

  • Roll 1d6, and gain an equal amount of Hope.

  • On your next successful attack, you may turn your damage dice to d20s.

  • You may ask the spirit one question, which it must answer truthfully.

Mastery

Wise to Your Tricks: Once per rest, whenever you have a conversation with an NPC, you may ask the GM if they are telling the truth or not. The GM must answer honestly.

Otherworldly Takeover: Whenever you use your Otherworldly Focus ability, you may Mark an Additional Stress to force all creatures of your choosing in Close range of your Focus to take the damage as well.
