Crimson Ascendant • Hemarch

About these subclasses

If a feature says to spend a Blood token, it means to roll that many blood Dice for the action.
If a feature says to expend a Blood token, you remove the tokens without rolling as the cost instead.

Crimson Ascendant

Crimson Ascendant

Spellcast Trait: Knowledge

Play the Crimson Ascendant if you refine blood magic through continuous sacrifice, amplifying every spell through disciplined expenditure.

Foundation

Hemo-Augments: When you successfully cast a Blood spell, you may mark a Stress to roll any number of Blood Dice tokens spent, and apply a Hemo-Augment. You know the following augments:

  • Sanguine Potency: Add the total rolled Blood Dice value to the spell’s damage.

  • Crimson Reach: Increase the spells targets by the value of the Blood Dice.

  • Bloodweight: Reduce the target’s Difficulty by the Blood Dice value until the next time they take damage.

Specialization

Efficient Platelets: Mark a Stress to use an extra Hemo-Augment.

Hematologist: Your Blood die is now a d6. You also know the following augments:

  • Vein-Severing: Expend a Blood Die token to make the target temporarily Vulnerable.

  • Erythrocytic Reclaim: Expend any number of Blood Dice tokens to clear that many Hit Points.

Mastery

Hematopoet: Your Blood die is now a d10. When you roll maximum value on a Blood Die, you regain a Blood Die.

Laminar Circulation: If you have spent 3 or more Blood Dice this scene, you gain advantage on all Spellcast rolls this scene.

Vascular Binding: You may apply two Hemo-Augments on the same spell.

Hemarch

Hemarch

Spellcast Trait: Presence

Play the Hemarch if you impose forbidden laws through blood, forcing creatures to act against instinct and allegiance.

Foundation

Blood Taboos: When you successfully cast a Blood spell, you may spend a Blood Die token to impose Blood Taboos. You know the following taboos:

  • Crawling Veins: The target’s veins writhe beneath their skin. Frighten a number of targets equal to the total rolled until the start of your next spotlight.

  • Borrowed Pulse: Your blood overrides their heartbeat. Charm a number of targets equal to the total rolled until the end of the scene or until they take damage.

Specialization

Blood Harvest: When an adversary is defeated while Vulnerable, Frightened, or Charmed, gain Blood Dice tokens equal to the adversary’s Tier.

Forbidden Rites: You also know the following taboos:

  • Bare Flesh: Spend a Blood die and mark that many targets temporarily Vulnerable within Close range of your target. If maximum value is rolled on the Blood die, the Vulnerability is permanent.

  • Frenzied Ally: Spend a Blood die and mark that many targets temporarily Frenzied within Close range of your target. They must target their allies if possible.

Mastery

Blood Tithe: The first time you use Blood for the Blood God in a scene it costs 1 Hope instead.

Sanguine Reckoning: Your Blood Die is now a d8. You also gain the following taboo:

  • Ruptured Vessels: Spend a Blood die token to target that many adversaries in Close range of the target. They mark a Hit Point, and if they are already Frightened, Charmed, or Vulnerable they must mark a Stress.
