Anchors - a character creation aid for players and GMs.
Whether you're a GM looking to improve that 'buy in' and give encounters greater impact, or a player who wants to pad out your backstory, Anchors is for you. It turns what matters to your characters into tangible strings your GM can pluck on.
Anchors gives players five categories of grounded prompts:
- People
- Motivations & Beliefs
- Memory & Emotion
- Sensory
- Objects & Possessions
Anchors asks the players short and punchy prompts that are easy to answer. This gives the GM real material to build on: an NPC who resurfaces, a memory that gets triggered mid-session, a choice with weight behind it.
Players can answer as many or as few prompts as they like. There's no wrong way to use it, and no need to answer every single one.
This digital download includes written examples, so players can see the kind of depth and specificity that makes an anchor land. The more players give, the more the GM can shape the world around these anchors.
Anchors is completely system-agnostic. Use it with Daggerheart, D&D, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, or whatever you're already running. No extra rules and no new mechanics to learn.
