Neon Anima is now live for beta testing.
To take part, please email neon.anima.playtest@gmail.com with the subject "Playtest request", and we will provide you with a full 31-page publication and a link to a feedback form.
The publication hosted on Heart of Daggers only contains the Pitch, Overview, and a "Welcome Play testers" page. As a way of saying thank you, we want to give a free digital copy of the final product to everyone who completes our survey and helps us build toward the final product.
Imagine a world where magic and technology combine to create machinery fuelled with spiritual essence and harvested natural resources.
Step into the futuristic world of Neon Anima, a setting inspired by cyberpunk stories but blending in spiritual animism for a distinctly unique flavour. A world where traditional values clash with modernist expansion, and where mortals and spirits assist or compete with each other. Gameplay focuses on Okinari City, a metropolis where player's actions will tip the scales between traditionalism and modernism.
In a Neon Anima campaign, your characters will live on the edge of society and strive for purpose. As you forge new relationships your actions will change the world around you, and your personal influence will grow. Eventually you may even face the Neon Anima themselves.
Neon Anima is a full campaign frame, featuring everything you need to build your own exciting futurist stories along with your group.
- Community, ancestry, and class descriptions that reflavour the Core Rules to fit into the Neon Anima setting.
- Detailed player principles to give players the best experience from a Neon Anima game.
- Guidelines to assist GMs in creating exciting sessions that build on characters’ goals in a rapidly changing world.
- A city with 5 distinct areas sketched out, ripe for your table to expand upon.
- The Spiritnet, a location where mortals and spirits can interact and work together to crack cases, hack terminals, and uncover mysteries.
- Two Neon Anima NPCs, powerful spirits that act as example antagonistic forces for the PCs to fight for or against (Tier 4 stat blocks in progress).
- A brand new, fully flexible Magi-Tech Augment mechanic. Gain scars to increase your power, and use Therapy Countdowns to adjust to your new Magi-Tech improvements. How far will the players push their bodies beyond mortal limits?
- 17 adversary statblocks, covering Tiers 2 and 3. With more being developed for the final release.
We are looking forward to seeing your crucial feedback, to build on our foundations, and to share our fully illustrated version, along with the content still in development.
