The Dinosaur Derby is a Daggerheart-compatible one-shot that centers on players making a connection with their mounts, racing through the city in a frantic high speed event, and unraveling the shady gang's plans during all of it.
Welcome to the Apex. The Capital of the Saurian civilization on the Lost Lands, where the dinosaur humanoids host a no-holds-barred race through the city streets where Racesaurs strive to earn glory and wealth on the biggest event in the city.
This Adventure is meant to last 3 to 4 hours and with a party of 4 for Tier 1.
- It can be run for any amount of players with a few tweaks to the countdown timers. The environments and adversaries are built for Tier 1 but they could easily scale up for any tier to be playable throughout. There's an option for combat if your table wants to go that route. The adventure can be run in a purely non-combat session for any tier with adjustments to the difficulty.
Whats the Adventure?
The party will explore the bustling city plaza as they determine who, if any, won't sign up for the Derby. They will also be able to make bets and place wagers with the chance to discover some odd betting patterns. Afterwards, they will venturie to the Stablemaster and choose their mounts for the Derby. While there, the Saurian Stablemaster reveals some crucial secrets to not only calming these animals while under pressure, but revealing a bigger plot at play in the Derby. After securing their 'vehicle', the Derby will begin and the Party will do what they can to rip victory from the claws of the other Racesaurs. If the Players can pull away from the pack, they can enter a race amongst themselves to determine the true winner of the Derby and who takes home first place bragging rights! Regardless if the Players win or lose the Derby, the Shady Gang's plans are uprooted. In a bitter player for revenge, they unlock the Stablemaster's cages releasing wild dinosaurs stampeding through the city plaza. Hopefully, the players took notes about the dinosaurs calming secrets, as they might come in handy here!
